What to bring
Food
Please bring a packed morning tea and lunch, and also afternoon tea if your child is staying for the full day. We encourage healthy eating at preschool, in line with MOH recommended guidelines (these will be given to you upon enrolment). Foods such as sandwiches, fresh fruit, veggies, yogurt etc are great. We ask that you please do not include sweets or chocolates. We can also heat food if required.
Drink bottles may only contain water, and water is also available at preschool, although we encourage you to fill bottles before you arrive. You are also welcome to bring along food to share for special occasions (such as birthday cake) but a list of ingredients must be given to the teachers.
Clothing
Please send your child in suitable play clothing as there is plenty of messy play and outdoor fun, so clothes will not stay clean. Please also include at least two spare changes of clothing each day, and ensure everything is clearly named. We encourage you to also include a daily wet bag for wet/ soiled clothing.
Nappies/Underwear – Please provide us with disposable or cloth nappies for your child. Toilet trained children need 1-2 extra pairs of underwear in case of water-play or the occasional accident.
Summer – Hats must be worn in terms 1 & 4 – we have a “no hat, no outside play” policy. We have sunscreen at preschool, however, if you prefer your own sunscreen for your child, please let the teachers know, as a separate permission form will need to be filled out.
It is helpful if parents apply sunscreen to their children when arriving at preschool and sign the ‘sunscreen’ sheet.
Winter – Warm jackets, hats, raincoats, socks and gumboots.
Toys/bikes
Your child is welcome to bring their bike/scooter from home to use at preschool, as we have a large outdoor area, which includes a purpose built bike track! For hygiene and safety we ask that your child brings their own helmet. Other toys from home are also okay to bring, however, please ensure that special or precious toys stay at home, as staff can not be held responsible for loss/damage to the toy, or the emotional distress this may cause.
